Sonic the Hedgehog
Gotta go fast!
Originally created to compete with Super Mario‘s success, Sonic the Hedgehog has been SEGA’s mascot since 1991.
Brash, petulant, but loveable, Sonic became an instant success. The fleet-footed and fast-quipping blue hedgehog epitomises 1990s cool. Sonic focuses on collecting the iconic gold rings, defeating the evil scientist Dr. Robotnik and reclaiming the Chaos Emeralds.
This bundle samples some of the games featuring your favourite wise-cracking blue mammal throughout the last 30 years!
Sonic the Hedgehog
We all know Sonic the Hedgehog as one of the core faces of retro gaming, whose games are still going strong today.
The original Sonic game on the Megadrive is probably the most recognisable of these games. With maps like the Green Hill Zone and the Marble Zone, this is the game that established Sonic and SEGA as pioneers of the videogame industry.
Current records for completing Green Hill Zone Act One are under 30 seconds! How fast can you do it?
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle allows you to take control of both the mammalian protagonists we all know and love, and the antagonists we feared as children across two campaigns: Hero and Dark, in which players battle to save and conquer the world respectively.
Play as Sonic or Shadow across fast-paced levels which focus on platforms and gameplay, take control of Tails or Dr. Eggman and experience slow directional-shooting zones within mechs and explore an open world and hunt treasure with Knuckles or Rouge.
The first game announced as part of Sonic's 25th Anniversary Celebrations, Sonic Mania was built using Whitehead's RetroEngine, giving it the classic graphical quality which lies somewhere between the Megadrive and the SEGA Saturn.
Taking place over 12 different zones, players can take control of Sonic, Tails or Knuckles in order to defeat Doctor Eggman and the Hard-Boiled Heavies, collect the seven Chaos Emeralds and protect the Phantom Ruby at all costs.
