Our thoughts on reopening the NVM
Once again, we hope you and yours are safe and well.
I wanted to keep you up to speed with our preparations to reopen the Museum, since the Government published guidelines for museums reopening last week.
We’ve been greatly reassured that our plans are heading in the right direction. In fact, we are planning to go above and beyond them to ensure your return to the museum is as safe as we can make it.
We’ve been talking to a lot of colleagues in other museums about their plans, and there are as many different approaches to reopening as there are shapes and sizes of museums. It’s interesting to hear from international colleagues whose videogame museums have already reopened. We’re learning a lot from their experiences of how to reopen an interactive museum safely.
In a survey to our community last week, everyone’s input has already been incredibly helpful and we’re delighted to hear how many of you want to visit us again. Thank you for that vote of confidence – we’re working hard to deliver a fully interactive, playable and fun experience, whilst being able to welcome you all safely.
As you’ll know, there’s a big relaxation of the lockdown coming in the next few days. All of us are about to find out what it’s like to go to the shops again, get a haircut, grab a meal, and be around people again safely. Some of that shared experience will inform our plans for reopening.
We’ll be back in touch very soon, with some ideas and plans to try out on you. Any thoughts or questions – don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Enjoy your haircuts!
