Creative Teach Meet:

Digital Media Arts

We recently had the pleasure of hosting, in partnership with Create Sheffield, the latest in a series of Creative Teach Meets that brought together professionals from educational institutions and creative practitioners to share inspirational practice, connect and plan future collaborations.

Organised by Children’s Capital of Culture and held throughout 2025, Creative Teach Meets give schools a chance to share good practice, network and learn about opportunities and techniques to enhance the learning experience.

Insightful Presentations

Taking place on the 6th February, this insightful Teach Meet hosted at the National Videogame Museum featured talks from the NVM’s Head of Learning, Stacey Jubb on the Museum’s  learning programme and outreach projects.

Redscope Primary School Headteacher, Alison Bradbury, spoke about the positive impact of working with NVM on the Plug in and Play project, where her pupils helped co-design and develop its games.

A video presentation was shown from White Woods Primary Academy Trust detailing the experience of 2024 Games Expo and finally Dr. Alison Buxton presented an overview of ‘Worldbuilders’, a videogames and literacy focused project funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

Networking: Play and Learn

This free event presented the ideal CPD (Continuing Professional Development) opportunity for professionals as well as being able to play together (and compete too!) in the Museum’s gallery of over 100 playable games and interactive exhibits.

Working Together

The event concluded with Leah Dungay, Learning Officer at the NVM, demonstrating the range of bookable school workshops available at the NVM. There was also the opportunity to discuss a variety of online resources available for videogame designing that can compliment classroom teaching including Twine, Bitsy and Scratch. The NVM has guides to each of these resources via the Learn at Home page, while the learning team are happy to help with any queries and can be contacted via email: learning@thenvm.org

Stacey said, “It was a pleasure to host the Teach Meet here at the NVM, showcasing how we can support students at every stage of their learner journey.  It was a perfect networking opportunity, bringing together teachers and professionals from South Yorkshire.”
