About Us

We’re an ambitious, committed and diverse team working to create an innovative programme including our museum, events, festivals and award-winning learning programme.

We craft fun and educational experiences that change the lives of our different communities, with a particular focus on disadvantaged and under-represented groups.

We’re passionate about our art form, but knowledge of videogames is not essential.

The National Videogame Museum is governed by the BGI charity.

Artist Brief

Activity: Documenting cosplay through drawing at MCM Comic Con London, Saturday 23rd May 2026.

What we are looking for:

The National Videogame Museum is looking to collaborate with an artist to document cosplay and costumes at MCM Comic Con in London. The NVM will have a pop-up activity stand at the event from Saturday 23rd May 2026.

As a part of this activity, we are looking for an artist to create portraits and illustrations of visitors to the Comic Con who are sharing their love of videogames through cosplay. This would involve creating portraits of people dressed as videogame characters (wearing costumes) who are attending this event. These illustrations could be created digitally or via traditional art mediums.

Ideally artists would be comfortable attending in-person events and working quickly with members of the public of different ages and backgrounds to create observational drawings and sketches of people wearing costumes. The activity would be supported by experienced members of The NVM team, with opportunities for breaks during the day. Images created would remain the property of the artist, but would need to be licenced and made available for display (with attribution) within future exhibitions created by the National Videogame Museum.

When/Where:

  • MCM Comic Con London, ExCeL London
  • Saturday 23rd May, 10:00 – 18:00

Artist Fee: £500 – to cover event attendance and creation of images.
Additional Honorarium Fee: £150 – to licence images created for presentation in future exhibitions created by the National Videogame Museum.
Reasonable travel expenses to and from the event venue will be covered.
