National Videogame Museum turns two
Happy Birthday to… us!
Happy Birthday NVM!
Now we are TWO!
And… woah… what a year…
It doesn’t seem like a moment ago we were celebrating our first birthday, then our busiest week EVER in February, then a visit from the designer of the NES and then…
..then everything stopped.
For a while, we honestly thought it might be all over. Again.
But, because of the impossibly generous help of our patrons old and new, project funders from across the country and especially you, our visitors and supporters – we’re still here and able to celebrate our second birthday with you!
From everyone here at the NVM & BGI, thank you SO much for everything you have done for us. We’re truly humbled.
It’s our birthday, but whilst we’re raising a glass and toasting the day, we’re not punching the air in triumph this time. We know how tremendously lucky we’ve been to survive this year, and we’re acutely aware of how many amazing organisations won’t and what an incredibly hard year this has been for so many people.
So, whilst we’re delighted that we’re still here, know that we don’t take that for granted.
In October, we learned we were one of the organisations fortunate enough to receive a grant from the DCMS Culture Recovery Fund, enabling us to make it through, hatch new plans and hopefully enjoy a very different 2021 with you all.
As we write this, the National Videogame Museum is still in pause mode, waiting to hear when it’ll be deemed safe for us to open for you again. We’re not completely sure when that will be yet, but you can be confident that as soon as we’re allowed, we’ll be safe and ready to welcome you all again.
Happy Second Birthday NVM.
