Truly iconic videogame greats are coming to town this Christmas! We’re introducing four quintessential classics all debuting as playable games at the NVM.
Everyone’s favourite marsupial, Crash Bandicoot joins fellow PlayStation icon Spyro The Dragon as both their third adventures, Crash Bandicoot: Warped and Spyro: Year of the Dragon will feature in the galleries.
Both vied for the mantel of PlayStation mascot. They were often seen as rivals until later team ups cemented them more as friends. Spyro makes an appearance in Crash’s most recent game, Crash Team Rumble as a playable character.
Before they became known for Uncharted and The Last Of Us, Naughty Dog created platforming duo Jak & Daxter as an exclusive for the PlayStation 2. Released all the way back in 2001, their first adventure was released to critical acclaim. It spawned several sequels and a racing game spin off.
Arguably the most iconic character of them all, Samus Aran debuts at the NVM, as her first adventure Metroid for the Nintendo Entertainment System will also be playable. This action-adventure game, released in 1986, was both a critical and commercial success. It was one of the first videogames to have a female lead paving the way for future characters like Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), Jill Valentine (Resident Evil), Commander Shepard (Mass Effect) and Ellie (The Last of Us).
The Metroid series has sold over 17.44 million copies to date.

There’s still plenty of time to pick up those perfect Christmas gifts. We have an array of toys, books and games available in our Museum shop. Become a business tycoon like Tom Nook with Animal Crossing Monopoly, help a loved one catch ’em all with Pokemon themed stocking fillers or pick up awesome Sonic and Mario plush toys. We also have Gift Vouchers available both online and in store.
