Help Lumi find her missing grandfather! Explore the ingenious crafted world of Lumino City, a city where the lights have gone out!

Lumino City is a puzzle adventure game where everything seen on screen is handcrafted. Everything in the game is made entirely out of paper, card, miniature lights and motors. Many of these exquisitely hand crafted models are on display at the Museum in our Art of Play exhibition.

Three Years in the Making

It’s fair to say that Lumino City is one of the most unique made games ever. Everything seen on screen has been expertly handcrafted and designed using paper, cardboard and glue! Taking three years to complete, the models built contributed to a 10 foot high model city. Laser cutting was used to a create finely detailed environment, and miniature lights and motors were built in to bring it to life.

The Art of Play exhibition features many of the small scale hand-made models used within the game’s city landscape. Crafted using the same materials as the full-scale model of the game, these models faithfully recreate the textural and artistic practices such as metal-making.

Interesting Facts

  • Lumino City won the Artistic Achievement category at the British Games Academy Awards in 2015. It also received nominations in the British Game and Game Innovation categories.

  • The title is a pun of the word “luminosity”, which is a measurement on the brightness of a light.
