Sackboy: A Big Adventure

A spinoff of the Little Big Planet series, Sackboy: A Big Adventure sees the titular hero set out to rescue his hometown of Loom from the evil Vex.

A true, home-grown gem, Sackboy’s latest outing was released in 2020. This award winning game was developed by Sumo Digital in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

A PS5 Launch Title

 

Originally debuting as a launch title for the PlayStation 5, Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a new (3D) adventure for Little Big Planet’s most famous character.

More spinoff than sequel, the game has won both best British Game and Family Game awards at the 2021 British Academy Games Awards (BAFTAs). It was also nominated in the Multiplayer Game and Music categories.

Interesting Facts

 

  • The game was made right here in Sheffield by Sumo Digital. It was one of several launch titles for the PlayStation 5 in 2020.

 

  • Sumo Digital also developed the previous entry in the series – Little Big Planet 3. They have also worked on several major franchises including Sonic the Hedgehog!

 

  • The game is the first in the Little Big Planet series not to have a Create Mode. However, Sackboy is still customisable.
