Celebrating Plug In And Play
2024 saw us collaborate with Children’s Capital of Culture to create Rotherham’s very first videogame trail. Taking place during October half term in eight locations throughout Rotherham town centre, the trail featured a variety of digital and analogue games.
Two of those games will feature in a exhibit that celebrates the Plug In and Play project. Visitors will be able enjoy Shutterbug, a peaceful, bug photography videogame. Created by Rianna Suen, Dan Emmerson and Dan Pugsley, the game features a bespoke beetle shaped controller created specifically for the videogame trail.
The second game features a recreation of one of the trail’s locations, Grimm & Co. Designed by Plug In and Play’s Creative producer, Alex Johansson, participants on the trail could design a magical creature to inhabit the digital recreation of the venue. These creations were then added to the game which you can now play here at the Museum.
