The Big Sheffield Build, in Minecraft

We’ve teamed up with Sheffield DocFest and Minecraft artist Adam Clarke to create Sheffield in Minecraft, block by block, and we need your help! Join us in our activity space this May half-term to claim your plot and add your stamp to our Big Sheffield Build.

The final co-built world, titled ‘Sheffield of Stories’ will be presented as the centrepiece of Sheffield Doc Fest’s FREE Alternative Realities Exhibition (10-15 June). The exhibition explores the creative possibilities of gaming worlds.

Join us from 23rd – 31st May to build your own piece of our city in this unique Minecraft world.

Hands-on Building

Our learning team will also be running a number of hands-on activities throughout half-term

You can build your own paper worlds to add to our hand-made map, sketch ideas before bringing them to life in Minecraft, or build with wooden blocks in our builders corner.

You can also share your personal stories about Sheffield or reflect on what makes Minecraft special through recorded interviews. Your story will be transformed into an in-game video, complete with a Minecraft avatar.

The opportunity to record interviews will take place throughout the week but may not be available at every session.
