Using an immersive green-screen experience, visitors designed their own costumes and power-ups before being transported directly into a live-action videogame inspired by some of Sheffield’s most iconic locations.

Make It! Play It! showcased how developers combined digital tools such as 3D modelling, pixel art, and sound design with traditional techniques including embroidery, clay modelling, and stop-motion animation to create some of the world’s favourite videogames.
This collaborative project brought Sheffield to life in a vibrant Minecraft world, one block at a time. Created in partnership with Sheffield DocFest and Minecraft artist Adam Clarke.
