Home Education Visits

Ideal for Home Education groups and families, a visit to the museum will bring groups of all ages on a journey exploring the history and culture of videogames. Learn more about the history of videogames by booking a self-guided visit throughout the year, or book a place on one of our upcoming Home Education Sessions that include an exciting workshop!

Home Education Sessions

Our next Home Education session will be on Thursday 5th June 2025, 13:00 – 16:00. This takes place during a weekday opening session, and you will also get the opportunity to book a place in an exciting educational workshop.

The workshop will be Pixel Art & Designing Videogame Characters and is suitable for ages 7 – 14 years. This facilitated workshop lasts 1 hr and you can enjoy playing and exploring the museum during the rest of the session. Find out more about the workshop below.

For the Home Education Session, each group with an Under 18 Ticket is entitled to 1x Free Accompanying Adult Ticket. Use the code HomeEdAdult at the checkout to claim a free adult ticket.

You must add either a Standard Adult Ticket or a Standard Adult Ticket Including a Workshop Place, to your basket before entering the discount code.

Self-Led Visits

A self-guided visit to the National Videogame Museum is a great way to support learning at home in a range of subjects, from computing, history or art and design. Take your time to play and explore our galleries in any of our general opening sessions throughout the week. 

The museum is open from 13:00 – 16:00 on Thursdays and Fridays, or 10:00 – 13:00 and 14:00 – 17:00 on weekends, and throughout the school holidays. Book in advance via the learning team and take advantage of our discounted educational rate. Self led visits are £9/student and your group can benefit from 1 accompanying adult free per 8 students.
